Message One:
Dear
Members,
Aside from each
other, our neighborhood park is one of the
most wonderful benefits we have here in the
Isle of Pines. As is with all wonderful
benefits, care must be taken to ensure
things are as they should be and stay that
way. You have been informed that your
IOPPOA Board has been receiving complaints
about unsanctioned activities occurring in
the park.
Here are a few
items to help us all preserve our cherished
way of life:
- The park
rules are posted on this website. Click on
the 'Community Stuff' link. Please review
these rules with your family to
ensure everyone has a complete understanding
of what is necessary and expected;
- The park
schedule of events is also posted. Click on
the 'Community Events' link. Please be
aware of when events are scheduled and know
that events have been scheduled with the
approval of the IOPPOA Board of Directors.
Members who have events scheduled understand
the park remains available to all members
regardless of the time of their event.
Being aware of the scheduled events can help
you and your family plan your activities as
well;
- If you become
aware of a situation in the park that is
contrary to the information provided above,
call Rick Boyd (407-380-5715), Dana Aikin
(407-737-9049), Hugh Blair (407-282-1496) or
Al Eastburn (407-658-1562 ). Please do not
take it upon yourself to confront offenders
as we do not want anyone to be placed in an
uncompromising situation.
Thank you for
your support,
Your IOPPOA
Board of Directors
Message Two:
Fellow IOPPOA Members,
Like the old adage says “A stitch in time saves nine.”
So in the spirit of avoiding trouble rather then dealing
with it, here’s what’s going on and what is requested.
Two items:
1)
To the boat owners who use the ramp:
Please do not park on the
basketball
court. It wasn’t constructed as a driveway and
could break. Also, if you have an oil leak, that would
ruin it for playing basketball (once the hoop is
replaced (again)).
2)
To the parents of our neighborhood children:
The park is becoming a gathering spot for a small but
growing group of kids after school. Which is not a bad
thing. The concern is they are completely unsupervised
and destructive
activities are increasing.
For example, the
stepping stones at the front gate have been broken, trash
is being strewn
around, they’re turning the lights and fans off and on,
standing on the counters and playing with the spinning
fans, goofing around with the hose, leaving it tangled
and not turned off, leaving the gate unlocked and most
annoying, throwing the swings over the top bar. This
makes it very difficult for young parents and
grandparents
and their toddlers to use the swings during the day.
Please talk with your children and ask them to act
responsibly towards common property. Remind them that
they are not invisible
when they’re in the park and vandalism will result in
the termination
of their
family's membership in the association
which will result in
their entire
family no longer having access to any of the
facilities.
It is imperative that we, as parents and as a community,
ensure our children are supervised and held accountable
for their actions. This is not only for the sake of the
children but also for the benefit and safety of all our
members.
We believe given the opportunity to act responsibly,
most, if not all our kids will make the right decision,
and everyone will be able to continue to enjoy the park
and the kids will continue to have a safe place to hang
out after school. Please also keep in mind, the IOPPOA
Park Rules state "An adult must accompany children 12
years of age and under."
Sincerely,
IOPPOA Board and Officers
