Presidents Message February/March 2020

23 Mar

I have just been elected by the board to be your IOP President for 2020. Last year was a productive year for us, with
substantial progress in several areas of park improvements. I’d like to thank everyone who volunteered their time and
effort to keep the IOP a great place to live and play. This year we’ll build on the success of 2019, and will be asking all our
members to weigh in on what you feel should be the next big improvement project for our community.
IOP members, please be on the lookout for an email from Suzanne Arnold asking you to complete a short survey. We
created the survey to get the best sense of what our members’ priorities are for the coming year. You have three options to
choose from: Boat Ramp Repair, Seawall Replacement, or Build a Beachside Pavilion. Please take the very short time to
complete the survey.
During the membership drive this year, we had the most activity we’ve seen in years. It was great seeing all the new residents and those that took a little break come down and sign up. Our membership numbers are going up, so let’s hope that
leads to even greater friendship and camaraderie among our neighbors. Your continued membership and support make the
IOP a little slice of Heaven in a busy and noisy world.
Thank you all for a great 2019, and I look forward to pursuing new opportunities with you in 2020.

Presidents Message January 2020

13 Dec

I’d like to start off by thanking all of those that helped with the Christmas Dinner. It was a great event that pulled together friends, neighbors, firetrucks, and Santa and his elf. Thanks to everyone that brought all the additional potluck dishes. There was a well-attended boat parade on the 20th and a golf-cart parade on the 22nd. Our Facebook pages contains parade information or contact one of our board members if you have questions.

As we kick off the new year, I’d like to bring to your attention that the membership drive will take place on Jan. 25th and will display some of IOP’s finest chili and hotwings. You will also receive a membership discount for signing up on/before the event. More information is located on the front page of the newsletter. If you are interested in becoming a board member, this event will be the time to ask questions and sign up.

Bids for park upkeep (bathrooms, lawn care, website maintenance, newsletter editor, and newsletter delivery) are open for submittal. If you are interested in any of the opportunities, please visit the website (https://isleofpines.org/community-stuff/), print and fill out the forms, put in an unmarked envelope and give to any board member. Submit all bids at the membership drive or anytime before February 3rd.

Happy New Year everyone. I hope 2020 will be a great year for the IOP.

Presidents Message December 2019

19 Nov

We have a busy month ahead. Our annual Christmas Party will happen on Sunday, December 8th. I need volunteers (about 10) to help coordinate with cooking/prepping/serving of the turkeys and other food and set-u/clean-up after the event. If you would like to help with the event, please contact me (flyfshermn82@gmail.com). More details on the Christmas Party in this newsletter. There is also a Christmas parade that will occur. Consider it as the boat parade…but on land. Be on the lookout for more details on our Facebook page. The boat parade is scheduled for Friday, December 20th. If you have a boat and want to decorate it with lights and spread Christmas joy to those around the lake, please meet at the South end of the lake around 6:30pm. Last year we had about 15 boats, lets try to beat that number. Call it the IOP Land & Lake Christmas Parade.
Finally, the holidays are here and so is the cooler weather. Some of you will be traveling for the holidays, please do so safely. Lastly, if you are able to donate a gift to someone, I encourage everyone to donate something to an organization that helps kids or families/people that are less fortunate.

Presidents Message October/November 2019

17 Sep

Thank you all that help to put on the Labor Day event. The food was excellent, the music was on point, the games and raffles were very entertaining. I’d say it was a great success.
Halloween and Camp Night is right around the corner. Be on the look out for more details in the newsletter.
On a much different note, I’d like to bring some vandalism to the community’s attention. There have been multiple issues with someone vandalizing the IOP Park bathrooms with stealing or damaging of bathroom supplies, intentionally attempting to clog the toilets, urination all over the floor in both bathrooms, and spreading of fecal matter in both bathrooms. A report will be filed with the sheriff department. If you know who is responsible, please contact me or the sheriff department. This needs to stop immediately. If anyone finds these issues in the bathrooms, please contact me flyfshermn82@gmail.com.
Also, there are visible signs of vehicles, golf carts, and ATV’s driving on top of the septic field and doing burn-outs on the sides. Several kids have been spotted doing this. No vehicles (of any kind) are allowed on the septic field!

Presidents Message August/September 2019

9 Jul

Just like that, we are half way through the year. The temperatures are getting hot and staying hot, if you’re spending any amount of time outdoors, make sure to hydrate and take care of yourself…and your animals.
July 4th went of with a bang. Hope everyone that attended the event had a good time. Thanks go out to Shawn for hosting the event and cooking the burgers/hotdogs, and for those that contributed some tasty side dishes and desserts. If you liked the fireworks but wish they would have gone on for a little longer, feel free to donate at any time.
We will be having a fundraiser event on Labor Day. I encourage you to buy tickets ahead of time. If you like to bass fish, you should look into joining the IOP Bass Fishing Club. Take a look inside for the event details or ask a board member for details (listed inside the front cover of the newsletter).
I hope everyone has a great summer and I look forward to seeing you out and about or during our next event.

Presidents Message July 2019

10 Jun

Hello IOP residents. To start, school is out so be on the lookout for kids (and the wildlife) running around and please watch you speed through the neighborhood.
There are a few upcoming events in the park. Be on the lookout for more information inside the newsletter, on the IOP Facebook page, and you can ask any of the board members for more details. The two main events are the Father’s Day Fishing Tournament (6/16) and 4th of July. If you aren’t already a member, now is a great time to join and take advantage of what’s right under your nose. Dana’s legendary fish fry will follow the fishing tournament weigh-in, and Shawn’s sensational grilling for the 4th of July celebration. If you would like to make the fireworks last a little longer, please feel free to contact myself or any of the board members to donate additional funds before the end of the month (June). We prefer monetary donations to buy fireworks vs. someone buying fireworks and donating them.
We have also recognized the 1st Friday of every month as an IOP sanctioned event from 6-10pm. It can be described as an IOP Happy Hour. It is a chance to get together and unwind after a long work week. Because it is an IOP sanctioned event, it will be open to members/guest only-but we will sporadically open it up to EVERYONE in the hood. Read the newsletter for all the details.
During ALL park events, please obey the posted parking signs in the park. There will be new signs posted over the next couple months to aide with clarity. This includes new trailer parking designation.

Thanks
Jesse Dance
IOPPOA President

Presidents Message April 2019

12 Mar

Hello IOP Neighbors,
March has flown by and we are rapidly approaching April. This means Springtime events, like Easter, are right around the corner. I encourage all members, especially members with children, to come to the park for the Easter event on April 20th (a Saturday). This is truly an enjoyable event with an environment provided for children up to 13-14 years old. More details about the Easter Event are included in this newsletter and please do not hesitate to contact any of the board members with questions you have regarding this event.
The main neighborhood event for the Month of March was the Beach Cleanup which took place on 9 March from 9am-Noon. This is an important annual event because it maintains and improves the condition of the park for the remainder of the year. While I understand that not everyone may be available or able to volunteer, I’d like to take this time to make a call for action to encourage more initiative from our members to get involved. I am making this request because currently we have 136 IOP members (households) and less than 5% of our membership base (households) showed up to help at this event. There are several other improvement projects taking place throughout the remainder of the year too; therefore, we will have several other improvement projects that still need to be completed during the year, if you’d still like to contribute please contact myself or another board member.
Remember that school is still in session so abide by the posted speed limits in the neighborhood and please always look out for children waiting at the bus stops in the mornings, children being dropped off in the afternoons after school and in general while they are crossing the streets or outside playing.

Presidents Message March 2019

14 Feb

Hello everyone. My name is Jesse and I am the new president of the IOP. I’d like to take a moment to thank Terry Gardner for all of his time and effort as the previous president. We were able to accomplish several key park improvements under his direction including painting the pavilion, improving the sidewalks from the pavilion to the bathrooms, enlarging the basketball court, replacing the water softener system, rebuilding the pavilion kitchen, and rebuilding the park dock. Without his time and devotion many of these improvements may not have happened.
This year especially, we have had a great interest in fresh faces becoming board members. I look forward to working alongside the board to continue to grow and improve the IOP community. We all are eager to ensure that the IOP community remain a safe and friendly place to live, and we will continue to make a positive impact on this amazing community. We will be bringing some new ideas to the community in efforts to increase community awareness and involvement.
If anyone has questions or ideas regarding events, volunteering, neighborhood questions, or becoming a member, please feel free to contact myself, or one of the friendly board members listed below. If you are new to the neighborhood and would like to meet the board members or would like to attend a board meeting to share an idea, please come to the park on the first Tuesday of every month at 7PM.

Hello Neighbors,

This will be my last newsletter as your IOPPOA President. After 3 consecutive years it is time for me to take a break. I will be happy to remain on the board but as a board member only. Thank all of you for letting me serve our community. It was an honor on my part. I want to thank our outstanding team of board members for an incredible year of hard work and dedication to our community, as well as all the wonderful people who volunteered. You are all what makes our neighborhood so unique and special. I and our community appreciate all of your time.

We have our 4th annual chili cook off kick off membership drive in January. This was a really fun event and is expected to be even better this year!!! All are welcome to attend. Come meet your neighbors, enter your chili in contest, enjoy some chili and get a discounted membership.

We have a couple of openings for the board next year. If you would like to serve your community let myself or Al Eastburn know so we may add your name to the ballot. Voting will take place at the membership drive.
